Okay, so I'm absolutely thrilled that there has been such a huge and diverse response to my poem 'I Need Feminism', so thanks guys! However, because there are a lot of comments I'm starting to think that it might be a bit impossible for me to respond to all of them. A lot of the comments are really long, which is really great and I appreciate it, but it might take me a little longer to reply than normal. I've been responding to comments since I got home from college at just before lunch time (around five hours ago), so I am trying my hardest! However, I would just like to say that it's not okay to be a bully in the comments. There's a difference between being constructively critical and being flat-out mean. Comments saying "Fuck you" and "emo cunt" and telling me to "go slit your wrists while listening to My Chemical Romance" are not
constructive. I mean, feel free to say "fuck you" to me, just tell me why, y'know? And as for the whole "go slit your wrists" thing, I just can't think of how in anyone's head that would be justifiable. Attack the work, not the person behind it.
I kinda feel like I need to explain the poem. Or rather, my views on feminism. I'm not anti-man and no, it isn't every man out there's fault that sexism exists. I know that. Feminism shouldn't mean that. Just because I believe in feminism it doesn't mean that I automatically don't believe in equality for everyone. I just want to make it really crystal clear that I believe in equality for all; regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or any other factor. If you have any questions about my stance on any of these things (or you just wanna chat) feel free to comment or note me with it.
Also to any new watchers; heya guys! Nice to meet you. I'm Ellie. The fact that you are one of my watchers makes us automatically friends. Nice to meet you!
