Secert place -Phan-Phil sat at a lunch table in his new school alone, reading. He knew he would have a hard time making friends, so he didn't make it a conscious effort. He struggled to open up to people; he was practically mute. He only spoke to authority figures and his mum, that was it. His peers were normally insignificant. I was sitting next to the window in my lounge room scrolling through Tumblr when I noticed him. A tall man with ghostly pale skin and black hair in a similar style to mine walking past my house and down the street. I looked at the time, it was 11pm. What the hell was he doing? Surely he isn’t just going on a casual stroll this late at night. I put him at the back of my mind. It wasn’t like I was ever going to see him again.

-1 day later-

I was back at the window watching some random YouTube videos when I saw him again. I looked at the time; it was exactly 11pm. I’m curious now.

Okay, right, before I get a shit-tonne of people telling me I can't write, please let me explain this. Okay? Okay. Thanks.

In English class we've been learning about the language of text-talk and exploring how people can set tone, emotion etc using 'textese' or 'slanguage'. Basically, you're meant to be able to tell someone's mood from things like how long it takes them to text back or how their response is written. For example, when Phil uses mostly full words, that's meant to show his seriousness and when Dan takes a long time to reply that's because he's upset so doesn't feel like talking/facing Phil.

Put simply, the idea behind this piece of crapola was to write a story with emotion using only text messaging. I have a feeling that I failed miserably.

Just in case you were wondering, the story-line behind the texts was; Dan was being bullied by Phil's friends for being gay (which is a kinda secret), Dan couldn't take it so took a day off, Phil got worried because he was completely oblivious, Dan avoided Phil, Phil saw his friends bullying Dan and then they made up/got together.

Anyways, sorry for this horrifically long note, but I hope this wasn't too awful and please let me know what you think!
