Humans are cruel.
Humans are killers.
Before guns it was knives
Before that it was stones
Invasions, burning homes,
Stealing lives and loves
Releasing crows and
Slaughtering doves.

Humans are good.
Humans are kind.
They live, love and laugh
They have the gift of hope
Helping them all to cope
Through evil human things
Sowing seeds and
Sewing angel wings.

Humans are strange.
Humans are incomplete.
Punches to kisses to games
Anger to love to insanity
Tragedy to crystal clarity
Whirlwinds of empty whims
Empty prayers and
Honest pseudonyms.

Humans are living.
Humans are dying.
Ashes to ashes, soul to Hell
Or perhaps to Heaven
No human can really tell
If even either is real.

Indeed... the human race will have joys and horrors through the continuation of time. Creation granted us knowledge and ability unlike any other animal on this plant. History has shown that life was a game of survival:the winners, who probably had to kill to tell the story in their own words or just to explained human development to survive. What remains are the "losers" who survived the blow from the other side which the losing party's story won't have any consideration till humanity has reach a certain stage of time where history will judge the previous event. Other all, history would judge all of us as well as human thoughts and opinion but like a said as before, Creation granted us Knowledge to do anything we want.... even kill due to emotions and thought, never instinct. We have done grave murderous mistakes e.g. the Holocaust and the massacre of the native Americans to try and for fill some idea that God grants good only to the "civilized ones" because they heard of Jesus, and used excuses like belief and fiance to get our way in life since we are all biggits that think it every person for themselves. Even if there is the nicest person in the world, who does good because they want to; they have a savage monster hidden inside them which is cynical and cruel what are easy shown by hidden subtle cracks when things go wrong for them. Heck, have you seen what were human have done to beings that look different or are not at the advancement levels as us either above of below and even ourselves. Even I admit I am not perfect when I try to be kind throughout my life, the dark monster can break out of the cage until I learn to control it, even then, It's too late. To be easy angry at small things is no pleasure but it's a human thing and everyone will have that moment.

But what about when humanity... feels.A very bizarre thought. Its approach seems beyond using it for survival and learning... it's different. I could go to a cinema and watch a film and create an opinion on how I felt about it. Even recommend you to watch it. It's funny because do you need it at the end of the day? Does it help for survival? does it feed you cloth you or warm you? Really, you gain nothing. That why I like it.You don't need it but we still do it. It shows that life isn't just about survival anymore. It's living. We have that chance to love and care about others as well as yourself as we no longer need survival. We build and expand our society, we help people when we want to. Despite the demon insides us. This poem of humanity, to me is a message about we have two sides about us, a good and a bad side, the good side learns to have compassion and will develop because it's trying to do good because of ideas and emotions and at least considerations about others where the bad side is a side which focus on surviving only, no empathy, no hope and will take advantage of any technology either good or bad. That is humanity for you.

The final stanza talks about death and what could ever happens when man leaves the earth, does anyone know, would be nice if there was a heaven, would be nice if you could reincarnate into something depending on your effort on the previous world and maybe nice if nothing's actually there (beats becoming stressed and depressed after breaking a religious law by accident). No one really knows what will happen since we haven't conquer that barrier or truly seen that eternal natural frontier of a barrier that is death. Personally, you shouldn't worry about death because it might spiritually kill you. besides, See the joys of humanity and try and answer the question: Is life worth it?

There are no creatures more Universal than humans. We are everything, and we are nothing.

In the beginning, Man was made. But Man was too perfect, and so... had to be executed.

Upon Man was placed a limit, and his abilities reduced to ash, so as not to pose the threat of replacing God.

And then the unholy spoiled us further. So here we are... on the brink of life, or death.

This poem is amazing, like all other of your poems, but what makes this special is the way you express both the positives and negatives of humanity, which is something poets rarely do! Wonderful once again!

I don't mind, although I would have preferred it if you'd asked me before you did it.

That said, I really enjoyed listening to what you did with my work; really great job! Do you mind if I put a link to it in my next journal? :)

You're right, I probably should have asked, sorry. Feel free to use it as you want, though. Let me know if you'd like me to do this again for anything else or in a different way.

Empty prayers, and honest pseudonyms.

That was the most beautiful utilization of counter-phrasing that I have read in a while. I love the philosophical almost objective perspective you are able to convey. You almost have an omniscient vision on humanity where you uncover all the brutal-beauty of the human condition. It reminds me so much of a song by tool called "right in two". Maynard (the singer) says: "angels on the sideline/baffled and confused/father blessed them all with reason/now they're all confused/don't these talking monkeys know that Eden has enough to go around?"

you sound like the angel on the sideline. Excellent job! it was a very enjoyable read!

Evil is within all of us and Lucifer plants the seed of sin within every human. Nobody is exempt from this. Depending on our actions, that seed of evil may shrivel & shrink, or it can expand its roots of evil inside us. But no matter what it always stays inside the soul until death.

I think there's a bit of bad in everyone, just as there is a bit of good. Everyone has the capacity to be bad, just as everyone has the capacity to be good. It's up to the individual person.
